CB6 also works closely with city agencies, elected officials, businesses, and community groups to provide constituent services to all who live, work, and visit Manhattan Community District 6.

Our board welcomes you to our district, and we look forward to seeing you at our next meeting. You can also view our meetings on YouTube!

Neighborhood Impacts from United Nations General Assembly

The United Nations General Assembly will be in our district next week. Because of that, expect extensive impacts of UNGA.

A few of the impacts worth noting:

  • Every weekday next week is a Gridlock Alert Day. What this means is that driving in the area is strongly discouraged.
  • Buses will be operational, but some may experience significant delays and detours. For public transit, subways are recommended, as they will not be disrupted by UNGA.
  • Robert Moses Playground, Ralph Bunche Park, and Dag Hammarksjold Plaza will all be closed.

For additional information on impacts, you can view the full slide deck of information from the NYPD 17th Precinct Community Council.

Inspire Your Community Through Public Art

The NYC Department of Transportation is partnering with community-based nonprofit organizations and professional artists to present temporary public artwork on eligible NYC DOT infrastructure through the NYC DOT Art program. Since 2008, NYC DOT Art has produced over 475 temporary artworks.

Asphalt, bridges, fences, jersey barriers, medians, plazas, sidewalks, step streets, streetlight poles, and triangles serve as canvases and foundations for temporary murals, projections, sculptures, and interventions. Artwork may be on display for up to 11 months. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis. Apply now!

A New Way to Be Informed on Land Use Applications in Our District!

NYC Planning is launching a free email notification system on the Zoning Application Portal (ZAP Search) to keep you updated on land use applications in your chosen NYC Community District(s).

When on the Email Notifications page on the Zoning Application Portal:

You’ll get notified when every project in your selected district(s) goes through key land use application steps, including when there’s a new filing or when a project goes into public review.

Your email will only be used for these notifications and won’t be shared with others, and every email update on your chosen district(s) will include a link to unsubscribe or update your preferences.

If you need help on any technical issues, contact tech@nyc.planning.gov or use this form to submit your question.

Reimagining Our Waterfront

Manhattan Community Board 6 has launched a conversation about improving our East River waterfront — an area shaped heavily by aging infrastructure and evolving community needs. To help inform that discussion, CB6 commissioned a comprehensive report examining current waterfront conditions, including the FDR Drive’s role, and exploring a range of possibilities for enhancing access to our waterfront, resilience, and quality of life. At the March 13, 2024 Full Board meeting, CB6 presented a summary of the report’s findings and potential long-term visions for strengthening our waterfront. Here is the full report detailing all of the findings.
